Answer Pad is one of the best free (per 1 teacher - 8 groups & 200 students) tools around for mobile devices. This is a easy to use graphical student response system that helps turns a classroom paperless by allowing for all testing/assessing to be done on mobile devices. Educators use the web interface to create lessons then push them out to student devices using the free TapIt app. This allows them to guide learning, differentiate instruction, and assess students in real-time.
Also, there are lots of templates for teachers to browse through and customize to meet their needs. For example, an educator can download a template of a graph, map, clock, grid etc. and then draw/type/annotate on it to use w/ their students.
Below is a brief demo...

Otus
"Otus is an easy-to-use, yet powerful classroom tool that brings the best iPad and Chromebook education features together into one secure environment, and uses a single Google login." I must say after reading this tag line I was quite intrigued to give Otus a look and it IS a complete mobile learning environment for schools. Otus comes in two free iPad apps one for the teacher and one for the student. Keep in mind when downloading it will state that it is a 17+ app and the reason for that is the built in browser. However, a educator can monitor browser activity inside of Otus as well as a school should have a filter in place via their district policy (Although, it is widely recommend to view your students/child's browsing habits to make sure that they are not viewing anything inappropriate). Also, a user (teacher/student) will need a Google account to login.
As w/ most Learning Management Systems (LMS) Otus allows educators to create classes, manage attendance/assignments/grades, poll students, and more. They can create digital bookshelves to host all kinds of digital media (i.e. books, videos, sites, etc) and assess students in real-time. The split screen feature allows users to take notes using any feature of Otus as well as taking notes during browsing.

GuidedVideo
GuidedVideo is a excellent iPad app that is free right now (normally $30) for creating video lessons for students. This is done by recording yourself asking a question and then use your own photos as buttons for the answers to the questions. For example, if you were asking a student what shape is a rectangle or tap the correct month, all the answers (up to 12) would be either different shapes or the different months, where they tap the correct one. This can work for any subject or curriculum and great for Guided Learning and assessing students.I highly recommend checking out GuidedVideo by clicking here!!!

30hands Learning
30hands Learning is a company I've blogged about many times for their spectacular free mobile iOS app for digital storytelling/presentations... However, they also have a fantastic LMS (Learning Management System) that is an online community for educators and students. This site "houses" all of the online activity students and creates an e-Classroom for students.Educators can use this space to publish (public/private) to create courses, share lessons, assess/grade student projects, and more. Best of all this educational portal allows for teachers to create and manage student accounts and share courses via a unique URL and login code. This is a great way for educators to monitor student work, garner student feedback, and facilitate collaboration.
30hands the free mobile app has recently released a big update which allows users to easily upload a presentation to the "30hands cloud" via a tab/button. This is a great for Guided or Fli
pped Learning as a teacher can upload a project/template and then have a student work on it at home.

Xnote
Xnote is an innovative iOS app for geocaching that takes going on a scavenger hunt to a whole new level. For educators that are used to doing QR Code scavenger hunt this will be very familiar as this app allows educators to create virtual messages (that includes text/image) that will only open when a user goes to the "correct" spot/location. Talk about a fun way to integrate technology and outdoor activities!!!!Here is more info from their promotional email... "Teachers, parents and students can use Xnote to create and hide virtual messages outdoors at any GPS-location. Students can be sent on treasure hunts close to school or home to find hidden assignments with images, texts, links etc. A way for parents to use technology to take kids from indoor screen time to fun, healthy activities outdoors. It is as easy as sending an SMS/email.
Xnote teaches children to understand maps, navigation and spatial relations. Finding hidden assignments can teach communication, cooperation and the value of an active outdoor life. It is possible to link messages into tours and send treasure hunts to others using social media or by posting them on blogs or websites."

A user can do this by creating a presentation from scratch through a simple to use widget, or download one of the many free templates. The Answer Pad
The Answer Pad is an amazing web solution/iPad app that has to be seen to be believed. The Answer pad is a graphically-based student response system that is free for educators (1 teacher - per 36 students) which allows educators to assess students learning in real-time. This is done through an innovative web user interface that interacts w/ a mobile device (ie, iPad). Teachers can either use a number of templates or create their own and push them out to their student devices. What makes this such an effective teaching tool is that educators can draw on existing templates to modify to their own needs and use these in any subject. For example, a teacher can upload a bar graph and have student draw notes, or upload a grid and have students plot data, the possibilities are endless. The ability for a teacher to annotate or draw on template/image is great for Guided Learning.Another great way to use Answer Pad to assess student's learning is by the different Q/A type that a teacher can apply, such as: multiple choice, T/F, etc. Soon teachers will be able to record Answer Pad sessions, mark up student responses, and more.
Answer Pad is a wonderful tool for mobile learning, flipping a classroom, and differentiated instruction. I highly recommend checking it out by clicking here!!!
